Forest Schools and Outdoor learning is a huge part of what we do and happens both on and off site on a daily basis.
The Forest School sessions are run by our qualified forest school leader, Karen, who has many years of experience working with children in the outdoors. Karen holds an Early Years Qualification, Outdoor First Aid Qualification, Safeguarding Certificate and carries a current Enhanced DBS.
Before we take children off site to the forest, we give all children time onsite to get to know us and become familiar with the new people around them. Settling children in is our first priority and very important for their well-being. It allows us to get to know each other and for staff to understand each child's individual learning and developmental needs.
Being off site, in the forest, is slightly riskier than onsite so children need to be able to follow simple instructions and will need time to have made a secure connection with staff. Children will be playing and learning in small groups, unless specific support has been allocated.
Children need to be prepared for off site learning and adventures. appropriate clothing is essential. Every family will be provided with all the information they need prior to starting.
